Ameen Ahmed Ansari, bus conductor working with Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), found himself facing very unusual problem at work. He stands at 198 cm, which is around 6.5 feet tall. His workplace, however, was not designed for someone of his height.
Ansari was posted at the Mehdipatnam depot in Hyderabad. The buses he worked on have a maximum internal height of about 6.4 feet, which is slightly lower than his own height. This small difference made daily work very difficult for him.

Inside the bus, he constantly had to bend his head and body to move around and issue tickets to passengers. This caused him neck and back pain. His 10-hour shifts which included at least five bus trips a day became physically exhausting. The cramped space started affecting his health and movement.
Because of these difficulties, he officially requested the transport authorities to change his job role within the organisation.
Government steps in after medical strain and official appeal
Ansari’s situation came to the attention of Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who raised the issue with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. After reviewing the case, suggestions were made to find him a suitable alternative duty within TGSRTC.
The transport corporation decided to support him and allowed him to work in an “out of designation” role for one year. This temporary arrangement began after his condition was reviewed. It continued until April 28, 2026.
During this period, he was relieved from regular conductor duties inside buses.
The support given by the organisation was seen as a special case, considering the unusual nature of his challenge.
New posting options
After the one-year temporary arrangement ended, TGSRTC decided to extend further support to Ansari. The corporation has now officially allowed him to be placed in alternative roles based on requirement.
He may be assigned to work at a bus pass section or even at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), depending on operational needs.
Ansari’s journey with TGSRTC also has an emotional background. He was appointed on compassionate grounds after the death of his father, who had also served as a conductor at the Kachiguda depot in 2021.
